I say yes. Downloading a CD costs $10, which is usually only slightly less than buying a new CD. But instead of getting full CD quality music that you can freely "rip" to your computer and make unlimited copies, you get an inferior quality music file with "digital rights management" (DRM) which means you can't even make as many copies as you want.
Considering that direct downloading eliminates the cost of manufacturing, warehousing, shipping, and handling, and also cuts out the middleman, you should only pay half the price of a CD for a full CD quality file with no DRM, and maybe only a quarter of the price for a lower quality file with DRM.
